What came first - the chicken or the egg?
We all know that Primus is Les Claypool’s main hustle, but who came first in the creator’s mind? Was it Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, or… well.. Primus?
It doesn’t really matter though. What matters, is that the iconic Primus frontman, bass-juggernaut, creative genius, and master-jammer has gathered all his babies in one carry cot, and they will be hitting the road on for a massive coast-to-coast tour packed to the brim with genre-defiance, unpredictability, sonic adventures, and just plain off-the-charts epicness! You might have seen one of these bands before, but all three on one night? That is a rare opportunity that should be grabbed with both hands!
Primus, Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, and The Claypool Lennon Delirium are slated to kick off the much-anticipated Claypool Gold ‘26 tour in late May 2026 in Reno, Nevada, bringing all things Claypool to all the major venues from coast-to-coast, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Portland, Asbury Park, North Charleston, Rogers, Dillon, and Long Beach among others before wrapping up in early July 2026 in Napa, California.
Primus is Les Claypool’s very first brainchild, and upon the release of their 1990 debut studio album Frizzle Fry, catapulted right to the top of all things epic. Their quirky, funky, psychedelic, and slightly weird approach to music made them a favorite around the world almost instantly, and now, over four decades after their formation, Primus is still pumping those technically impressive bass-centric face-melters such as My Name Is Mud and Jerry Was a Race Car Driver - just as unpredictable and exhilarating as back then.
Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade is one of Les Claypool’s side-projects, with a rotating lineup. It’s that same Claypool bass-magic, but jam-packed with an intricate, complex blend of prog-funk and covers. Groove-heavy psychedelic jams? You’ve got it. Insane musicianship? Box checked.
You’d think that Les Claypool and Sean Lennon would be an unlikely pairing. It is, but hell, it works! The Claypool Lennon Delirium has been described as “music so potent it could repel an asteroid from space”, and nothing could be more accurate. They’re trippy, they’re weird, but oh, so wonderful!
The Hayden Homes Amphitheatre, situated in the Old Mill District in Bend next to the Deschutes River, is as picturesque as it is iconic.
